Construction Begins on Marquette Greenway Trail Section
Construction has commenced on a long-awaited section of the Marquette Greenway Trail, a project years in the making. The new section will connect Burns Harbor to Porter, Indiana, and is part of a larger 60-mile trail linking Chicago to New Buffalo, Michigan. The state is contributing $5 million towards the project, with the town of Burns Harbor providing over $3 million. The construction will include a boardwalk over swampy land and a crossing under a railroad bridge. The trail is expected to enhance recreational opportunities and connect communities within the Indiana Dunes National Park.
