Fraser Institute Report Questions Climate Policy Costs and Trade-offs
A new report from the Fraser Institute, a conservative think-tank, in collaboration with Danish political scientist Bjørn Lomborg and his Copenhagen Consensus organization, is examining the costs and trade-offs of climate policies. The project, titled 'Climate Change: A fact-based assessment of costs, trade-offs, and results,' aims to provide a fact-based assessment of climate change risks and the economic implications of policies designed to address them. Elmira Aliakbari, the institute's director of natural resource policy, stated that while climate change is real, its existential threat to humanity is often overstated. The initial five essays in the series, authored by Lomborg, cover topics such as heat- and cold-related deaths, wildfires, natural disasters, and food production. One essay suggests that while heat-related deaths have increased globally, cold-related deaths have significantly decreased.
