Ukrainian Military Strikes Russian Naval Assets in Crimea, Disrupts Radar Operations
Ukraine's military intelligence agency, HUR, has reported a successful operation by its special unit 'Prymary' targeting Russian naval assets and a radar system in Crimea. The operation, conducted overnight on April 18-19, involved strikes on two significant Russian landing ships in Sevastopol Bay. The vessels, identified as the Project 775 landing ship Yamal and the Project 1171 landing ship Nikolai Filchenkov, were reportedly put out of action. These ships, part of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, are valued at over $150 million combined and are capable of transporting large quantities of cargo, including armored vehicles and troops. Additionally, a Russian Podlyot-K1 radar system, used for low-altitude target detection, was destroyed in the operation. The radar system is valued at approximately $5 million. The strikes are part of Ukraine's ongoing efforts to weaken Russian military infrastructure in Crimea, a region annexed by Russia in 2014.
