Petoskey Library Hosts Event on Michigan Brands' Historical Impact
The Petoskey District Library is set to host two presentations on August 10, focusing on the history of Michigan businesses and brands that have significantly influenced the state's culture and economy. The first session will feature Hugh Grinnell, the great-grandson of Herbert Grinnell, co-founder of the Grinnell Brothers Music House. This company, founded in 1879 in Ann Arbor, expanded from a small storefront into an international enterprise with 40 branches by 1950. The second session, led by authors Gail Offen and Jon Milan, will explore the stories behind various Michigan-based food and beverage companies, including Kellogg's, Post, and Gerber. The event aims to highlight the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation that have become synonymous with Michigan's identity.
