Edinburg Pastors Released from ICE Custody Amidst Immigration Case Controversy
Two pastors from Edinburg, Texas, Cinthia Sarai Cardona Otero and Nepthali Zozaya Saucedo, have been released from ICE custody after being detained at McAllen airport. The couple, who overstayed their visas, were on their way to a pastors' retreat when detained. U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar advocated for their release, urging ICE to focus on criminals rather than religious figures. The couple, sponsored by their church under a religious visa, had applied for an adjustment of status before their visa expired. They are now required to report to the Harlingen Field Office and will have their case heard by an immigration judge.
