Austin Police Dismantle Organized Criminal Enterprise, Arrest Eight and Recover Stolen Property
The Austin Police Department has successfully dismantled an organized criminal enterprise following a months-long investigation, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals and the recovery of a significant amount of stolen property. The investigation, led by the North Metro Tactical Unit, uncovered activities involving mail theft, identity fraud, narcotics trafficking, and firearms violations. The operation began with an attempted fraudulent purchase at a local jewelry store, which led to the identification of a broader criminal network. Police recovered counterfeit U.S. Postal Service 'Arrow Keys,' stolen mail, bank cards, identifications, narcotics, and firearms. The investigation also revealed the use of stolen identities to lease properties and rent storage units, where additional evidence was found.
