Ohio University Partnership Enhances Career Opportunities for Students
Ohio University Lancaster has partnered with the Fairfield County Workforce Center to enhance career opportunities for students in fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, and trades. This collaboration, now in its fifth year, provides students with access to industry-grade technology and curriculum, including an associate degree in engineering technology and certificates in automation and mechatronics. Tyler Merritt, a student in the program, has benefited from this partnership, advancing from a job loss during the COVID-19 pandemic to a role as a CMM technician and quality inspector at Mid-West Fabricating. The program has equipped him with skills directly applicable to his job, such as process control and engineering graphics, which he uses to maintain product quality. Merritt's dual role as a student and employee has allowed him to bridge classroom learning with real-world applications, furthering his career aspirations.
