ZAYNICH: A New Antibiotic to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance
The development of ZAYNICH, a novel antibiotic combining cefepime and zidebactam, marks a significant advancement in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR). ZAYNICH targets multidrug-resistant Gram-negative pathogens, including E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Unlike traditional antibiotics, ZAYNICH employs a dual mechanism of action, enhancing its bactericidal activity and reducing the likelihood of resistance.
