Hiroshima University and UNITAR Partner to Advance Peacebuilding and Development
Hiroshima University, established in 1949 in the first city to experience an atomic bombing, is collaborating with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) on a program for global human resource development in peacebuilding and development. This initiative, set up by Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to strengthen the capabilities of professionals in these fields. The program includes online pre-training and in-person sessions at Hiroshima University. A recent Mid-Career Course, focusing on leaders aspiring to management positions, brought together participants from various countries including Japan, Austria, Cameroon, France, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Nepal, and Pakistan. The curriculum emphasizes interconnected humanitarian challenges, linking immediate assistance with long-term planning, capacity-building, and stronger national systems.
