Bank of America Agrees to $72.5 Million Settlement Over Epstein Allegations
Bank of America has reached a $72.5 million settlement with victims of Jeffrey Epstein, becoming the third major bank to settle allegations of facilitating Epstein's crimes. The settlement follows a class action lawsuit filed by a woman using the pseudonym Jane Doe, who accused the bank of ignoring suspicious transactions related to Epstein's sex-trafficking operations. United States District Judge Jed Rakoff has called for a comprehensive list of publications to notify potential victims, estimated to be as many as 75 women, about the settlement. The final approval hearing is scheduled for August 27. This settlement follows similar agreements by JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank, which settled for $290 million and $75 million, respectively.
