Community Health Opens New Geriatric Clinic in Rutland, Vermont
Community Health has opened a new geriatric clinic in Rutland, Vermont, marking it as only the second such specialized facility in the entire state. Located on North Main Street, the clinic offers comprehensive medical services tailored for seniors aged 65 and older. According to Samantha Helinski, a nurse practitioner at the clinic, its primary goal is to enhance patients' quality of life, promote longevity, and support independence. Providers in Rutland, including Amy Ridlon, another nurse practitioner, highlighted the scarcity of geriatric care in Vermont, particularly in the southern half of the state. Before this opening, the only other geriatric clinic was situated in Chittenden County, requiring long travel for many seniors. Geriatric physician Rosy Hill emphasized that Vermont is an older state with a significant population of older adults, underscoring the critical need for such specialized care.
