The Food Group Expands Summer Food Access for Sheridan County Children
The Food Group, a nonprofit organization, is expanding its efforts to combat childhood hunger in Sheridan County by increasing access to nutritious food during the summer months when school meals are unavailable. Traditionally, the organization provided weekend food bags through schools, but this year it has expanded pickup locations to make food more accessible for families. The initiative serves over 1,000 children through various programs, including weekend food bags, home deliveries, and community partnerships. Each location is managed by a local representative familiar with the families in the area, and the expanded network has the potential to continue year-round. As the new school year approaches, The Food Group is preparing to support students across all three Sheridan County school districts with the help of community volunteers and donations.
