Luis Har, an Argentinian-Israeli former hostage, shared insights into his time in captivity with Hamas in Gaza, where he was held for 129 days. Har, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak on October 7, 2023, was rescued in a military operation in Rafah. During his captivity, Har engaged in conversations about soccer with his captors, particularly about Lionel Messi. He noted that one of his captors updated him on soccer match results, including a match between Argentina and Brazil. Har expressed his belief in soccer's ability to bridge cultural and political divides, although he criticized the introduction of political messages into sports venues.
