Senator Catherine Cortez Masto Proposes Immigration Reform to Protect DACA Recipients
U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) has reintroduced the Fairness for Immigrant Families Act, aiming to reform the U.S. immigration system. The proposed legislation seeks to establish a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for decades, while also prohibiting the deportation of DACA recipients and certain immigrants with pending applications. The act addresses outdated immigration laws, targets notario fraud, and sets up protections against detention and deportation for immigrants deserving stability, such as DACA recipients and parents of U.S. citizens. Cortez Masto, the first and only Latina Senator, has been a consistent advocate for immigrant communities, calling for balanced immigration reform that includes border security and a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers.
