Illegal Immigrant Indicted in Ohio Car Chase Resulting in Deaths of Pregnant Teen and Unborn Child
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced that an immigration detainer has been lodged against Tarsem Singh, an Indian national, who is accused of leading Ohio deputies on a high-speed chase that resulted in a fatal crash. The incident, which occurred on February 16, 2026, led to the deaths of a pregnant 17-year-old girl, Ashlee Holmes, and her unborn child. Singh has been indicted on charges of vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and reckless homicide. The chase began when a Darke County Sheriff's Office deputy observed Singh's SUV exceeding the speed limit by nearly 25 mph. As the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Singh accelerated, reaching speeds of 124 mph before crashing into another vehicle. Singh is currently held on a $1 million bond, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged an arrest detainer to prevent his release.
