Midwest and Northeast Brace for Sudden Summer Heatwave
After a cooler-than-average start to May, a significant shift in weather patterns is set to bring summer-like conditions to the Midwest and Northeast. According to AccuWeather, temperatures are expected to climb into the 80s and even approach 90°F (32°C) in some areas over the next few days. Cities along the I-95 corridor, including Baltimore, New York City, and Boston, may experience their warmest days of the year so far. However, this heatwave will be short-lived as a cold front is forecast to move through on May 20, bringing cooler temperatures. Humidity levels will also rise, with dew points reaching the 60s, making the heat feel more intense. Despite the warm-up, the National Weather Service has issued warnings about cold water temperatures, which remain in the lower 50s, posing hypothermia risks for those venturing into lakes or rivers.
