Boone County Extends Workforce Agreement to Secure Federal Job Training Funds
Boone County, Kentucky, has extended an interlocal agreement with seven other counties to continue accessing federal job training and employment funds through 2031. This decision was made by the fiscal court, which unanimously approved the extension of the agreement that was last renewed in 2021 and set to expire in 2026. The agreement is crucial for maintaining access to funds provided under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), a federal law aimed at helping job seekers and employers. The Northern Kentucky Workforce Development Board, which manages these funds locally, oversees an eight-county region including Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties. Boone County, home to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, plays a significant role as an employment hub, benefiting from federal funds due to its large workforce and numerous employers.
