Civilian Marksmanship Program to Sell Historic M14 Rifles with ATF and Army Approval
The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has announced plans to sell over 100,000 historic M14 rifles to American citizens, following approvals from the Army and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The sales are expected to begin in late 2026 or early 2027. The M14, known for its short service life in the U.S. military, remains popular among civilian collectors and shooting enthusiasts. The CMP, which was privatized in 1996, funds its operations through the sale of surplus military firearms, promoting civilian marksmanship and firearm safety.
