Flash Flood Risk in Southern Vermont Through Midweek
Unsettled weather is expected to bring heavy rainfall to parts of Vermont and New York's North Country from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning (source: WCAX). While northern Vermont, including Burlington and the Champlain Valley, is forecasted to receive between 0.25 and 2 inches of rain, southern Vermont could see significantly higher totals, ranging from 4 to 6 inches in some areas. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated along the eastern slopes of the southern Green Mountains and southeastern Vermont. This rainfall is expected to vary widely by location, with localized downpours potentially causing flash flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. For most, however, the rain will be beneficial for parched lawns and gardens.
