Governor Lamont Expands Connecticut's Sales Tax-Free Week to Include More Purchases
Governor Ned Lamont of Connecticut has announced an expansion of the state's annual Sales Tax-Free Week, which will now cover a broader range of purchases. Starting July 1, the sales tax on non-electronic school supplies such as pens, pencils, crayons, notebooks, paper, folders, binders, and lunch boxes will be eliminated. This initiative is expected to save residents nearly $6 million annually. Additionally, the tax-free week, scheduled from August 16 to August 22, will now apply to clothing and footwear priced under $300, an increase from the previous limit of $100. This move is part of the new state budget aimed at providing financial relief to families, especially as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
