Consumer Reports has named the LG LW6023IVSM window air conditioner as the best option for small rooms in 2026. This model features a 6,000 BTU inverter compressor, which enhances energy efficiency by controlling motor speed to cool rooms quickly without cycling. The unit achieved a Combined Energy-Efficiency Rating (CEER) of 15.5, surpassing the Department of Energy's minimum standard of 12.8. It outperformed 23 other models tested for small rooms, receiving high scores for temperature delivery and noise levels. The LG unit is recommended for rooms up to 250 square feet, although it may struggle in rooms with significant sunlight exposure.
