Lawsuit Filed to Block New Hampshire Student ID Voting Ban
A coalition has filed a federal lawsuit to challenge a New Hampshire law that prohibits the use of student identification cards for voter registration and voting. The law, House Bill 323, is criticized for disproportionately affecting young voters, particularly those aged 18 to 25. The lawsuit, filed by the Coalition for an Open Democracy, argues that the law discriminates against younger voters and seeks an injunction to prevent its enforcement in the upcoming state primary. The law, signed by Governor Kelly Ayotte, eliminates student IDs as valid identification, citing concerns over non-resident voter fraud.
