Windward Bio Announces Positive Phase 2 Results for Asthma Treatment SKB378/WIN378, Initiates Phase 3 Study
Windward Bio, in partnership with Kelun-Biotech, has announced positive interim results from the Phase 2 portion of its POLARIS-1 clinical trial for SKB378/WIN378, a novel treatment for uncontrolled moderate-to-severe asthma. The study, which evaluated twice-yearly dosing, demonstrated significant and sustained improvements in lung function, measured by FEV1 (forced expiratory volume in one second), with increases of up to 174 mL (placebo-adjusted mean increase up to 256 mL). Additionally, the treatment led to dose-dependent reductions in FeNO (fractional exhaled nitric oxide) of up to 24 ppb and a decrease in mean blood eosinophil count (EOS) of up to 200 cells/µL. These effects were observed as early as Week 2 and were sustained through Week 24 after a single dose. SKB378/WIN378 was well-tolerated, with no treatment-related serious adverse events, withdrawals, or discontinuations. Following these promising results, Windward Bio has initiated the first Phase 3 study for SKB378/WIN378, with a second Phase ...
