Dan Simpson, a 68-year-old Domino's delivery driver from Boise, Idaho, has retired after a viral act of kindness led to strangers raising over $170,000 for him. Known locally as 'Dan the Man,' Simpson became an internet sensation when a doorbell camera captured him buying Diet Cokes for a customer with his own money after the store ran out. The video, posted on TikTok, garnered millions of views and inspired a GoFundMe campaign that far exceeded its original goal. The funds have allowed Simpson to retire earlier than planned, marking a significant change in his life after years of hard work. Simpson, who has also worked for the Idaho Department of Agriculture, plans to use the money modestly, purchasing a van and traveling. He has openly shared his past struggles with addiction and his journey to sobriety, expressing a desire to help others facing similar challenges.
