Frijoles Fire in Pecos Wilderness Expands to Over 2,000 Acres
The Frijoles Fire, located in the Pecos Wilderness north of Santa Fe, New Mexico, has expanded to 2,052 acres with 0% containment as of Sunday morning. The fire, which began on Tuesday, is attributed to lightning and is situated in the Española Ranger District, approximately 3 miles southeast of Cundiyó. Currently, 86 firefighters are engaged in battling the blaze, utilizing large air tankers and helicopters to drop retardant and water in an effort to control the fire's spread. The region is experiencing hot and dry conditions, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s and humidity levels between 10%-15%.
