Bill Gates Criticized for Mosquito Net Program's Impact on African Ecosystem
Forrest Galante, a prominent wildlife biologist, has criticized Bill Gates and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for their mosquito net distribution program in Africa. According to Galante, the program, intended to combat malaria, has inadvertently damaged a crucial freshwater fishing area near the Cahora Bassa delta. The mosquito nets, which have very fine mesh, were repurposed by local residents for fishing, capturing young fish before they could mature and reproduce. This has reportedly led to the destruction of a vital fishing area that supports millions of people.
