Injured Bald Eagle Jackie Rescued Near Big Bear, Undergoing Rehabilitation
A bald eagle named Jackie, part of a well-known pair featured in a live nest cam near Big Bear Lake, was rescued after being found injured. Jackie had been missing from her nest for several days before being spotted on the ground in Fawnskin, California. She was involved in a confrontation with two younger eagles, which she managed to fend off but was unable to fly away. The Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation San Dimas Raptor Rescue team rescued Jackie and transported her to a specialized rehabilitation facility. The Friends of Big Bear Valley, the nonprofit behind the nest cam, confirmed that Jackie is stable and awaiting diagnostic results. The incident has drawn significant attention from fans of the Big Bear bald eagles, who have been following Jackie and her mate, Shadow, since 2015.
