Nebraska Petition Fraud Investigation Results in Arrests Across Multiple States
The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office has made significant progress in an investigation into fraudulent petition signatures, leading to the arrest of five individuals from out-of-state locations, including Missouri, Nevada, Florida, and Washington, D.C. These arrests are linked to petitions intended for the November ballot, which aimed to implement term limits and modify voting eligibility in Lincoln city elections. The investigation was initiated after the Lancaster County Election Commission rejected a substantial portion of the signatures submitted by the Good Government Lincoln Project, suspecting them to be fraudulent. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin confirmed that the investigation has not uncovered any political group affiliations with the suspects, who were allegedly paid per signature. The U.S. Marshals Service played a crucial role in facilitating these arrests.
