Ukrainian Special Forces Adapt Tactics to Counter Increased Russian Drone Threat
Ukrainian special forces are adjusting their tactics in response to a surge in Russian drone activity near the front lines. According to a special operator from Ukraine's 4th Ranger Regiment, there is a significant increase in the use of first-person-view (FPV) drones, particularly those controlled by fiber-optic cables, which are difficult to counter with electronic warfare systems. As a result, Ukrainian troops are now moving more on foot and maintaining greater distances between soldiers to reduce the risk of being targeted. The operator, identified by the call sign 'Gur,' noted that soldiers are now equipped with pump-action shotguns as a last-resort defense against these drones. The 'kill zone,' an area heavily saturated with drones and ground robots, poses significant danger, prompting Ukrainian forces to operate in small, more maneuverable teams. These teams often rotate to allow soldiers time to rest and prepare for subsequent missions.
