Uganda Detains 231 Foreigners in Crackdown on Human Trafficking and Cybercrime
Ugandan authorities have detained 231 foreigners in a crackdown on illegal migration, which the Ministry of Internal Affairs suggests is linked to human trafficking and cybercrime operations. The detainees, from various countries including Nigeria, Pakistan, and India, were found living in restricted compounds without proper documentation. Some individuals claimed they were trafficked into Uganda with false promises of employment, while others were involved in cyber-scamming activities. The Ugandan government plans to prosecute those who broke the law, while assisting trafficking victims to return home.
