Renault 5 TL Auction Sets Record After 43 Years of Dormancy
A Renault 5 TL, originally purchased in 1982 by a woman identified as Madame M, remained unused for 43 years before being discovered and auctioned. The car, which had only 12 kilometers on its odometer, was found in a barn in Saône-et-Loire, France. Madame M had bought the car from the Renault Sodirac dealership in Chalon-sur-Saône but never drove it due to her lack of confidence behind the wheel. The vehicle, still in its original condition with temporary license plates, was auctioned by Aguttes On Wheels in Paris. Initially estimated to sell for between €5,000 and €10,000, the car fetched a record price of €64,453, setting a world record for a standard production variant of the original Renault 5.
