Texas U.S. Senate Race Sees Significant Democratic Ad Spending Advantage Over GOP
In the ongoing Texas U.S. Senate race, Democratic candidate James Talarico has significantly outspent his Republican opponent, Ken Paxton, on advertising. Talarico has deployed over $25 million on advertising since the general election began in late May, with a substantial portion allocated to broadcast and streaming platforms. In contrast, Paxton's campaign has spent only $119,000, primarily on digital advertising, leaving Talarico with a near-exclusive presence on the airwaves. This disparity in spending has contributed to Talarico building a narrow polling lead within the margin of error. Paxton has publicly acknowledged this spending gap and appealed to donors for more resources, stating his campaign aims to increase spending in September and October. Republican strategists anticipate that well-funded outside groups will eventually enter the race to narrow the spending gap, but concerns are growing among some Republicans about the delay in significant ad spending.
