Former Journalist Transitions to Postal Service, Triples Salary
Jim Lexa, a former journalist from West Seneca, New York, transitioned from a career in journalism to working for the Postal Service, significantly increasing his salary. Lexa spent decades in journalism, starting as a sports reporter and later moving to the copy desk. However, as the popularity of newspapers declined, he faced pay cuts and financial stress, prompting him to leave the industry. At 53, Lexa took a job as a handyman before joining the Postal Service in 2015. He quickly advanced from a clerk to a city carrier assistant and eventually became a letter carrier. Lexa now earns up to $85,000 annually, nearly three times his previous salary, and enjoys a less stressful lifestyle.
