Naperville Transportation Advisory Board Approves Updated Bike and Pedestrian Plan
Naperville's Transportation Advisory Board has approved an updated bicycle and pedestrian plan, marking the first such update in decades. The comprehensive plan includes over 100 infrastructure projects and policy proposals, intended to be implemented over the next 20 to 30 years. The primary goal is to enhance safety, comfort, and confidence for residents moving around Naperville, improving access to schools, parks, libraries, businesses, transportation, and healthcare for all ages. Specific suggestions range from adding or improving existing bike lanes to make key destinations more accessible, to incorporating markings or new signs at high-traffic intersections within the city's bike network to increase safety. Gartner Road was identified as a high-priority area for a new bike lane to connect residents to Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve and the DuPage River Trail.
