Global Study Links Excessive Screen Time in Children to Poorer Academic and Emotional Outcomes
A global study involving 2.8 million children across 64 countries has found a significant link between excessive screen time and negative developmental outcomes. Published in the journal 'JAMA Pediatrics' and reported by The Independent, the research indicates that heavy use of video games, social media, and streaming services is associated with lower academic achievement, weaker language skills, and increased emotional problems. Children who spent more time in front of screens also exhibited greater challenges in psychological and social aspects, including symptoms of anxiety, depression, aggression, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
