Walsh suggested that postpartum depression is a result of women's selfishness and an unwillingness to adapt to the demands of motherhood. Shapiro, without directly naming Walsh in one instance, urged an unnamed individual to 'please, please, please, stop being a moron.' In a separate social media post, Shapiro clarified his stance, stating that 'Post-partum depression is quite real. Post-partum psychosis is real but also distinct. People who conflate the two are being foolish. People who dismiss either are being ridiculous.' This internal disagreement within The Daily Wire highlights a broader political divide on the right concerning maternal mental health, particularly in the context of the Lindsay Clancy trial, where postpartum psychosis is a key defense.
