Traci Park Leads Fundraising in L.A. Coastal Council Seat Race Against Faizah Malik
Los Angeles City Council member Traci Park has significantly outpaced her challenger, Faizah Malik, in fundraising for the upcoming June 2 primary election for the District 11 seat. Park has raised over $1.2 million, more than double the $454,000 raised by Malik, a civil rights attorney. The District 11 seat covers areas such as Mar Vista, Pacific Palisades, Venice, and Westchester. The total funds raised in this race, nearly $1.7 million, is the highest among the eight council seats up for election. If no candidate wins a majority in the primary, the top two will face off in the November 3 general election. Park attributes her fundraising success to her efforts in addressing homelessness and clearing encampments, while Malik's campaign emphasizes a grassroots, people-powered approach.
