Influential Nazi Leader's Confessions Now Available in Uncensored English Translation
An influential book titled 'Conversations with an Executioner,' detailing the confessions of Nazi commander Jürgen Stroop, has been published for the first time in an uncensored English translation by Steerforth, an imprint of Pushkin Press. Stroop, responsible for the killing of over 50,000 Jews and the destruction of the Warsaw Ghetto, recounted his experiences to Kazimierz Moczarski, a Polish political prisoner and resistance leader, while they shared a cell in 1949. Moczarski, a veteran of the Warsaw Uprising, documented Stroop's unrepentant account of his rise as a Nazi and his role in mass murder. The book, despite being censored for years by the Polish Communist regime due to its non-alignment with their ideological narratives and its focus on Polish resistance members, has been translated into over 15 languages and adapted for stage and screen.
