First Responders Continue Search for Missing Man in Potomac River Amid Safety Concerns
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) and Virginia first responders are actively searching for a man who went missing in the Potomac River on Tuesday. The search, which has been ongoing for several days, involves the use of sonar, submersible drones, and K-9 units. Assistant Chief Dan Ogren emphasized the dangers of swimming in the Potomac, particularly near Great Falls, where currents are strong and unpredictable. Despite the risks, swimming in the river remains a common but prohibited activity. The search efforts are part of a standard three-day operation, after which they may be called off if the individual is not found.
