Los Angeles Metro Board Allocates $1 Million for Open Streets Events Amid Governance Changes

This funding is part of Metro's Open Streets grant program, which supports popular events across L.A. County. The decision follows a motion by County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, who advocated for the funding despite initial resistance from Metro staff. The board also discussed governance reforms in response to county changes, proposing the inclusion of transit rider representatives on the Metro board. Additionally, Metro approved over $100 million for freeway expansion projects.
