China's Solar Plant in Qinghai Boosts Local Livelihoods and Sustainable Development
China is advancing its sustainable development goals through a large-scale solar plant located in the Talatan Gobi Desert, Qinghai Province. This project, highlighted in a recent episode of CGTN's 'The Art of Governance,' showcases how technology is being used to enhance local livelihoods while preserving the environment. The solar plant, with a power generation capacity of 8,430 megawatts, allows local herdsmen to graze their sheep among the solar panels, addressing issues of desertification and declining fertile pastures. The initiative not only provides clean energy to the national grid but also supports the local economy by ensuring regular income for herders and food for their livestock.
