IU Health Launches Theranostics Center of Excellence to Expand Personalized Cancer Treatments
Indiana University Health has announced the establishment of the IU Health Theranostics Center of Excellence, a new program designed to provide highly personalized cancer treatment. This initiative integrates advanced medical imaging, precision diagnostics, and image-targeted therapies. The program aims to improve patient outcomes by accelerating access to precision medicine across Indiana. It builds upon existing strengths within IU Health and the IU School of Medicine, leveraging their expertise in precision genomics and clinical trial infrastructure. The center will initially focus on FDA-approved precision-targeted therapies for prostate and neuroendocrine cancers, with plans to expand access to investigational treatments for other cancer types. The launch was made possible by a $20 million gift commitment from Sarah and John Lechleiter and Deborah and Randall Tobias, which was matched by IU Health, bringing the total investment to $40 million.
