Mother of Fallen Israeli Soldier Reveals Son's Role in Hostage Rescue Attempt
During a Remembrance Day ceremony, Yafit Goshen, the mother of fallen Givati soldier St.-Sgt. Oriya Ayimalk Goshen, disclosed that her son was killed in a January 2024 operation aimed at rescuing the Bibas family in Khan Yunis. The operation, known as 'Operation Red Heart,' was an effort to free Shiri Bibas and her children, Ariel and Kfir, who were later confirmed to have been killed in captivity. The Bibas family became a symbol of the October 7 hostage crisis. The ceremony was attended by Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who emphasized the ongoing regional conflict and the sacrifices made by soldiers.
