Las Cruces Man Arrested in El Paso Following Unprovoked Drive-by Shooting Injuring Father and Son
Jesus Angel Cortez, a 26-year-old man from Las Cruces, was arrested in El Paso in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred on Sunday afternoon. The incident, which took place near South Solano Drive and Missouri Avenue in Las Cruces, resulted in injuries to a 34-year-old man and his 11-year-old son. According to Las Cruces police, Cortez allegedly fired multiple rounds from a charcoal-colored Dodge Durango into a vehicle occupied by the father and son. The father sustained at least one gunshot wound, while his son suffered shrapnel injuries to his face and arms. Both victims were hospitalized but have since been released.
