Courtney Teasley Advocates for Financial Literacy and Social Justice Through Legal Education
Courtney Teasley, a former criminal trial attorney, has transitioned into a role as a certified business coach, author, and speaker, focusing on financial literacy and social justice. Her career shift was significantly influenced by a personal experience involving her mother, who was overcharged as a drug seller instead of a user. This event propelled Teasley into criminal defense, where she realized the limitations of one-on-one casework in addressing systemic issues like mass incarceration. She has since left full-time legal practice to focus on advocacy and education, developing a book series titled 'The Easy Way to Learn Your Rights.' This series aims to make legal literacy accessible through plain, bilingual language, helping individuals better understand their legal rights and navigate the justice system.
