Norwegian Breakaway Crew Member Falls Overboard, Search Suspended Off Massachusetts Coast
A crew member from the Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship fell overboard while the vessel was traveling from Bermuda to Boston. The incident occurred approximately 12 miles off the coast of Wellfleet, Massachusetts. The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England received a report of the fall, which was captured on a security camera. Following the incident, a man overboard announcement was made to passengers, and lifeboats were deployed. The Coast Guard, along with a search helicopter and a crew from Coast Guard Station Provincetown, conducted a search operation. Despite these efforts, the search was suspended later in the day pending new information. The cruise ship eventually arrived at Boston's Black Falcon Terminal, albeit delayed due to the search and rescue operations. The cruise line emphasized the safety and well-being of its crew as a top priority and expressed condolences to the crew member's family.
