Türkiye Announces $5.3 Billion Package to Boost Agriculture Sector
Türkiye has introduced a substantial financial package valued at $5.3 billion to enhance the agriculture sector's transformation and employment. Announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the initiative will see an initial $750 million disbursed this year. The package, supported by the World Bank, is designed to span a decade, providing businesses with financing opportunities up to $10 million, with a repayment period of up to seven years and a 24-month grace period. The funding aims to support investments in facility construction and machinery within the agricultural and food sectors. Additionally, a credit guarantee fund will offer approximately $500 million to assist farmers struggling to access credit, potentially benefiting 400,000 farmers and creating 250,000 new jobs.
