Fire Erupts at Rio de Janeiro's Olympic Park Velodrome, No Injuries Reported
A significant fire broke out at the velodrome in Rio de Janeiro's Olympic Park, prompting a response from approximately 80 firefighters and 20 vehicles. The blaze was largely confined to the venue's fabric roof, and no injuries were reported. The interior, including the Olympic Museum, remained untouched. Rio's mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, stated that only a small portion of the museum was affected, requiring minor repairs. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the facility has a history of roof fires, with previous incidents in 2017 caused by falling paper sky lanterns.
