Allston-Brighton Residents Divided Over Jackson Mann Community Center's Future
A city survey has revealed a lack of consensus among Allston-Brighton residents regarding the redevelopment of the Jackson Mann Community Center. The survey, conducted from June 1 to July 13, received 553 responses, with opinions split on whether the site should include housing, a school, or both alongside a new community center. The survey results were discussed in a virtual community meeting, where city officials presented the findings and gathered additional feedback. Mayor Michelle Wu has committed to making a final decision on the center's redevelopment by the end of the year. The debate over the site follows years of advocacy for the community center, which was deemed not viable for long-term use in 2019.
