New Hampshire Drought Persists Despite Nor'easter
New Hampshire experienced a nor'easter over the past weekend, bringing at least an inch of rainfall to most areas. However, the storm had minimal impact on the state's drought conditions. As of October 1, 96.05% of the state remains abnormally dry, with 53.33% classified under moderate drought. Only a small portion of the southwest corner of Hillsborough County and parts of Cheshire County, accounting for less than 4% of the state, are free from drought conditions. While the storm improved conditions in southern New England, including Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, northern New England, including New Hampshire and Maine, saw little relief. Compared to last year, the drought situation in New Hampshire has improved significantly, as severe or extreme drought conditions were widespread at this time last year.
